His sister had accused him more than once of looking down on people not in academia. Besides, Heiji sounded like he could be a friend, something Snake didn't have a lot of at the best of times.
He tried hard to school his expression into something contrite, just so the other man could see his sincerity, as well as hear it. He didn't have nearly as many facial expressions as a sighted person so he had to make a conscious effort for what came natural to everyone else. "Heiji? If I've said anything that besmirched your character, it was out of ignorance and not ill intent. I apologize for offending you."
